This program is collaboration between ECLife and the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). We host free tax preparation clinics and arrange for volunteers to complete tax returns for eligible individuals who have a modest income and a simple tax situation.
Volunteer Roles & Qualification
- Tax preparer
- MUST done own tax return before and have profile in CRA
- have a basic understanding of how to prepare a tax return
- be comfortable with computers
- be willing to help people in your community
- be compliant with ECLife & CVITP policies and procedures
- be willing to affiliate with ECLife

Greeter
- scheduling appointments and pre-screening individuals
- be compliant with ECLife & CVITP policies and procedures
- possess good communication skills
- be able to answer general questions about ECLife & the CVITP

Team Lead
- MUST be a returning CVITP tax preparer
- prepare volunteer scheduling
- be a resource and support for other volunteers
- be able to assist with completing returns
All Volunteer MUST:
- kept all information confidential and secure
- respect the Canadian Human Rights Act and the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms; meaning you have to be respectful of everyone who comes into ECLife, regardless of their race, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age, or religion
- protect the taxpayer’s privacy and personal information
- provide services free of charge and decline any gift or monetary reward that may be offered
- follow the suggested threshold criteria for eligible individuals
- adhere to the policies and procedures of ECLife & the CVITP
Location & Work Shift
All CVITP volunteers work at ECLife Newcomer Centre Office located at 309-5516 Spring Garden Road.
Our work shift will be Monday to Friday 10am - 12pm, 1pm - 3pm, 5pm - 7pm. Saturday & Sunday 10am - 12pm, 12m - 2m, 2pm - 4pm. Each volunteer require to take two work shifts per week. Each work shift aim to have two volunteers.
